At Fite, O'Brien & Anderson, Ltd. we concentrate our practice in the area of divorce and family law.   We were founded in 1986 in McLean, Virginia, and we continually take pride in protecting, furthering and advocating for the best interests of our clients with a commitment to personal service and a high level of professionalism.

We provide legal services for clients throughout Northern Virginia in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and the division of marital property, assets and retirement benefits.  We help our clients reach resolutions in their cases through litigation, negotiation, mediation, Collaborative Practice.

Kathleen O'Brien and Donald E. Anderson, III represent clients in the courts throughout Northern Virginia.  However, when possible, we strive to assist clients and protect their interests with a focus on resolving divorce and family law matters with an acceptable settlement, through the use of negotiation, mediation, or the Collaborative Law process.  When such means of resolution are not possible, inappropriate, or unfruitful we will seek to resolve divorce and family law matters through litigation to protect our client's interests.

The Collaborative Law process is an alternative to litigation available to parties who wish to settle divorce and family law matters in an open, private, respectful manner.  By creating an atmosphere of open communication and cooperation, the Collaborative Law process allows each party in a divorce or family law matter to preserve their dignity while they collaboratively work towards a settlement that is acceptable to each party.

Frances Fite, the founding member of the firm, has retired.  Ms. Fite was a pioneer in resolving domestic disputes through the use of the Collaborative Law process.
